09:35 Finding Your Way in the Ever-Changing World of BI
Thomas Vavra, Research Director, Software, CEMA Region, IDC CEMA

Any understanding of Business Intelligence as a solution must begin by understanding it as a constantly changing realm. BI in any enterprise or organization is a process that will evolve over time, refocus its efforts, and incorporate new methods and technologies as needed. Although market consolidation and acquisitions have reduced the number of BI providers, the incorporation of new technologies and processes continues to vex those in search of their own "BI Roadmap." This presentation brings to light some of the factors that IDC expects to impact BI development in the coming years.
10:00 How to Implement Corporate Performance Management (CPM), Pervasive Business Intelligence and ROI: Soft and Hard
Shaku Atre, President, Atre Group

Business Intelligence is rapidly evolving from traditional BI to “Pervasive BI (PBI)”. The main concept behind Pervasive BI is that It delivers the right data with the right depth to the right people at the right time across the organization, with analytics, alerts, and feedback mechanisms in place for all. As a result, the lines between Corporate Performance and Pervasive BI are blurring. PBI can be used as a very effective tool for measuring progress against strategic corporate goals and KPIs that have been set by management and communicated throughout the organization.

BI is on the move - and a fast rate. ICT market research firm IDC projects that the market for BI tools will grow from approximately $3.7 billion in 2002 to $4.5 billion by 2007.

To stay competitive, organizations need to consider CPM. Whether in healthcare, financial services, insurance, retail, manufacturing, telecommunications, or government, knowing your customers, partners, vendors, employees, and competitors is crucial to your success. Without an integrated infrastructure to analyze, define, profile, and update information as a collaborative activity, you often have “just too late” identification of market’s changes.

Shaku Atre will present on CPM and pervasive BI solutions and how business, marketing, and technology executives can implement these solutions so that everyone in the organization can take advantage of them.

12:00 Maximize Business Performance with a Holistic View
Alistair Seaton, Senior Consultant, Informatica South East Europe

Today’s information economy is enabled through data. Data is the lifeblood of any organization, it is the currency of the modern economy and over the last 10 years we have seen an explosion of data across the organization. The traditional organization has large quantities of data held within operational databases including half of the data held within unstructured and semi-structured data sources, but less than a quarter of the information used to make business decisions comes from these unstructured data sources. As a result, companies are unable to accurately make decisions and measure corporate performance. This presentation first examines the problem of obtaining data from all internal and external sources and aims to help organizations gain greater business value from their information assets.
